Like beaded embroidery, sequins or 3-D flowers, these decorations are extremely delicate and will not survive the “torture” of washing. For every beautiful piece made with such materials we strongly recommend professional dry-cleaning.
Why only dry-cleaning?
- Nurture every detail: Hand-scrubbing or machine agitation can loosen or tear the beads, threads and appliqués. Dry-cleaning gives them a gentle “spa” and shields them from damage.
- Keep the sparkle: Water and regular detergents dull sequins and crystals and may cause oxidation or fading. Dry-cleaning removes stains while protecting brightness and colour.
- Preserve the silhouette: Many beaded designs are sewn on light net or silk that shrinks or distorts when hand-washed. Dry-cleaning avoids this risk.
Quick tip: Tell the cleaner the garment is a “treasure” with hand-beaded embroidery, ask for a protective mesh bag and an experienced technician.
